Being the tennis junkie that I am, I’ve gotta have my tennis when I’m on vacay. And if the sun and sand are involved, then that’s even better!
One of my teammates just came back from her dream vacation – two weeks of island hopping in the Caribbean.
You jealous? Me too! Especially when I found out she stayed at the Carlisle Bay Resort Hotel while on Antigua. She said it was her favorite destination of all of them, and after checking it out, I can see why!
Located on the southern coast of Antigua right on the pristine blue ocean of the Caribbean, the exclusive but casual tennis resort has every amenity families and couples alike – even tennis junkies like me!
They offer beautifully designed suites, both casual and fine dining, several bars for a fun night out, a relaxing spa and a state of the art fitness facility, tennis for the whole family, tons of activities for the kiddos, and they are in close proximity to dozens of tourist destinations… And did I mention, tennis?
They have nine courts, eight of which are hard, and one which has artificial grass, and four of which are lit for night play. And much like the tropical environment in which they are located, these courts are surrounded by lush tropical foliage. Just FYI – I’ve played on “turf” before, when vacationing in Las Brisas, Mexico, and I don’t recommend it. It’s way more slippery than clay, and usually has worn spots which can cause those annoying bad bounces.
To make your tennis experience even more enjoyable, the hotel ensures that its guests are provided with complimentary rackets and balls for use while on the courts. That way, you don’t have to have carry on or check your tennis bag! Love that feature!
If you’re up for a match, and your significant other isn’t, the hotel concierge is more than happy to find a suitable partner. You can also choose from other tennis-related activities like cardio tennis, group lessons, private instruction for all skill levels, and if you have kids, there’s a special tennis program for kids under 10.
The Carlisle Bay Resort Hotel is officially on my bucket list of tennis vacation destinations. Have you vacationed her before? I’d love to hear your feedback!
